Web Design & WordPress Agency in Exeter
From the first conversation to launch, we bring design and development together around your business. Based in Yeovil and working across the South West, Blunt Notion combines creative thinking with the technical expertise to build a website that works for you.
A better website starts with a clearer brief.
Perhaps your current site looks dated. Perhaps it looks fine, but customers struggle to find the right service, your team avoids updating it or every new requirement turns into a workaround.
We start by understanding the business, the people using the website and what needs to change. That shapes the pages, content, enquiry routes and technical approach before the visual design takes over.
For a new WordPress build, we create a custom theme and reusable editing components around the content you actually need. For an existing site, we investigate what is worth keeping before recommending a rebuild. If Shopify is the better fit for selling your products, we can design and develop that too.
The aim is a website with a clear purpose and room to develop, not a project that needs replacing as soon as the business moves on.
Understand what the website needs to change.
We discuss your customers, services or products, current website and priorities. Where data is available, we review the existing search visibility and important pages. The brief should distinguish a design problem from a content, platform or functionality problem before you pay to solve the wrong one.
Plan the content and customer journeys.
We work out which pages are needed, what each should explain and how people move towards an enquiry or purchase. Content structure, wireframes and platform decisions are considered together, including the information your team will need to maintain after launch.
Design it, then develop the details.
Your brand, content and customer journeys inform the visual design. We turn that into responsive templates and practical components, including custom WordPress or Shopify development where the brief requires it. You review progress at agreed stages rather than seeing the whole answer for the first time at launch.
Test, hand over and keep it useful.
Before launch, we check the agreed functionality, forms, responsive layouts, performance and search settings. Redirects and migration checks are included where relevant. Training, hosting, maintenance and further development can be scoped around the support you need.
Design decisions backed by proper development.
Some projects need a complete website. Others need better content, a more flexible WordPress build or specialist work on an established store. We can help with the whole project or a clearly defined part of it.
These are the main capabilities behind our Exeter website work. The detailed service pages explain the scope of each.

For businesses whose website has become a limitation.
You might be an Exeter service business with a website that no longer explains your work properly. You might sell products across the UK, need a more useful catalogue or have a WordPress site that has become difficult to manage.
We are particularly useful when the brief involves a mixture of design, content and technical decisions: a new service structure, custom editing components, a redesign with valuable existing URLs, or functionality that does not fit neatly into a standard theme.
The work can be a complete build or a focused improvement. CK Roofing’s first website shows how we bring service information, visual design and WordPress together. Our Birchwood Price Tools project demonstrates more involved Shopify front-end design and development for a B2B store.
We agree the scope, responsibilities and feedback stages before starting. Hosting and maintenance are available, but optional. Ownership and handover are set out clearly, including any third-party licences or services the website depends on.
Tempus Windows.
Website design for a specialist service business.
Helping customers understand the work before they enquire.
Tempus Windows restores period windows and doors for customers across Somerset, Dorset and Devon. Its website needed to explain specialist work clearly and give prospective customers useful information before making contact.
Blunt Notion worked with the owner on the website’s design, content and development. The project brings service information and the character of the business into a consistent online presentation, with a clear route to the next conversation.
It is a regional project, not an Exeter-based client. It shows the kind of website design and considered service content we can bring to a business working across a wider area.

What our clients say.
Kieron did a superb job on helping us build our new B2B Shopify store. It was a tight timeline, and a lot of work to get the site looking and performing how we wanted. But Kieron delivered on time and actually over delivered on the final product as he was able to bring some additional functionality to the table. Kieron demonstrated his unique craft of being able to cover off the technical functional components whilst also covering of the look & feel and ensuring the UX flowed well. Would very much recommend Blunt Notion.

An Exeter audience does not stop at the city boundary.
A specialist service business may need to explain its work to customers across Devon. A professional practice needs to make expertise and enquiry routes clear. A retailer may serve people in the city and sell to buyers much further away. Those are different website requirements, even when the businesses share a postcode.
We plan the site around that reach. Local service information should help someone understand what you do and whether you can help them. Product and specialist content may need to support a longer buying decision, a trade enquiry or a national audience as well.
Blunt Notion is based in Yeovil. Exeter projects can be handled through focused online conversations, design reviews and development demonstrations, with meetings agreed where they are useful. You have direct contact with the person responsible for the work throughout.
Straight answers before you commission a website for your business.
These are the questions worth settling before design begins. If you already have a website, include the address when you get in touch so we can discuss the actual situation.
Blunt Notion is based in Yeovil, Somerset and works with businesses in Exeter and across the South West. We can manage a project through calls, design reviews and development demonstrations, with in-person meetings agreed when useful. You work directly with Kieron rather than being passed between separate contacts.
The main factors are the number of page types, content requirements, design work, functionality, integrations and any migration. Send your current site and an outline of what needs to change, including a budget range if you have one. We will discuss the options and agree a clear scope and proposal before work starts.
Yes. We first look at the theme, editing setup, plugins, content and technical condition. A focused improvement may be enough. If the underlying build is creating problems that cannot be resolved sensibly, we will explain the case for a rebuild and what can be retained.
Timing depends on the scope, content readiness, feedback and any technical dependencies. We agree a programme after understanding the brief, including review points and launch requirements. Where appropriate, the work can be phased so useful improvements are delivered before a larger project is complete.
It depends on the job. WordPress offers a flexible foundation for content-led and service websites, including custom functionality. Shopify is worth considering for a product-led store with established ecommerce operations. We work with both and will discuss the content, buying journey, management and integration requirements before recommending one.
A properly scoped build considers page structure, headings, metadata, indexability and performance. A redesign also needs to account for valuable URLs, content and redirects. Ongoing SEO campaigns and content development are separate work. No supplier can guarantee rankings, but the search implications of a change should be planned before launch, not discovered afterwards. Our SEO services explain that wider work.
Yes. The editing setup is planned around what your team needs to change, with reusable components and guidance rather than unrestricted layouts that are easy to break. Training and handover can be included. More involved new features may still need development, and we will make that distinction clear.
No. We offer hosting, maintenance and ongoing development, but they are optional. The proposal sets out ownership, handover and any ongoing licences or platform subscriptions. You should understand what you receive and what it will cost to keep running before the project starts.
