Birchwood Price Tools: Shopify B2B design and development
Tools and trade supply
Birchwood Price Tools approached Blunt Notion directly to rethink the design and build the front end of its Shopify B2B store. The project needed more than a visual tidy-up: it needed a connected customer-facing experience, with custom functionality beyond what the base theme provided.
We redesigned the storefront and developed its front-end experience, from category navigation and product presentation to quick ordering, saved-list interactions and account-facing screens.

A trade store needs more than a good-looking homepage.
The Shopify project already had a technical foundation. Our role was to give the customer-facing store a coherent design and develop the interfaces needed around it.
Trade buying brings a different set of priorities. Some customers browse by category or brand. Others arrive with product codes and quantities already worked out. Product information needs to be easy to compare, while account-specific pricing and ordering have to fit naturally into the experience.
We approached the front end as one connected system, bringing navigation, product cards, page layouts and ordering interactions together rather than treating each screen as a separate design exercise.
Blunt Notion handled the storefront design and front-end development. The original agency retained third-party integrations and worked with BPT on launch.
Designed together. Developed together.
- Storefront design direction and responsive page layouts
- Custom Shopify Liquid and JavaScript front-end development
- Category navigation and product discovery
- Search interface and filter presentation
- Product cards, product details and related-size presentation
- Product-code quick ordering and bulk-input workflows
- Trade-pricing and quantity-information interfaces
- Saved-list app customisation and basket-update behaviour
- Account-facing screen design and development
A design system, not isolated screens.
The existing theme was a starting point, not a finished design. We reworked the customer-facing layouts, typography, spacing and product presentation so the store felt consistent from the homepage through to the catalogue and account-facing screens.
Design and development progressed together. That let us work through how the interfaces should behave as well as how they should look, using existing theme capabilities where appropriate and writing custom front-end code where more was needed.
Quick ordering built around product codes.
For a buyer who already knows what they need, opening every product page is not always the right route. We developed quick-order functionality around product-code lookup and quantity entry, with single-item and bulk-input workflows.
The work included input validation, clear feedback and basket updates: the less visible details that help an ordering interface behave as a connected part of the store. This was custom front-end development, not simply enabling a base-theme setting.
Make the catalogue easier to work through.
We worked across category navigation, search, filters and product cards to give customers clearer routes through the range. On product pages, codes, stock, delivery information and related sizes needed a readable hierarchy rather than competing for attention.
For trade-facing screens, the interface presents pricing and quantity information from Shopify’s B2B setup. Our contribution was the front-end presentation and behaviour around that information, not a replacement pricing engine.
